How to Open eBook files on your eReader


To open .epub files on the iPad

Use the free App, "iBooks" to open epub files on the iPad. Download iBooks


To open .mobi files on the Kindle

1. Plug the Kindle USB cable into your computer's USB port.
2. You will see the Operating System recognize the device.
3. Open "My Computer" and open the Kindle drive. (Mac: the Kindle drive will appear on the desktop).
4. Open the Documents folder and transfer the ebook file from your computer to that folder.
5. Disconnect the Kindle from the computer.
6. You can now use the Kindle to view the .mobi files.


To open .epub files on the Barnes & Noble Nook

1. plug in your Nook's USB cable into your computer's USB port.
2. You will see the Operating System recognize the device.
3. Locate the ebook folder on your computer.
4. Find the My Documents folder on your Nook.
5. Drag and drop the ebook into the My Documents folder.
6. Unplug the Nook from computer.
7. On the Nook do a Search For New Content.
8. You new files should show up in the My Documents folder.


To open .epub files on the Kobo eReader

1. With the Kobo powered "off" connect it to computer via USB cable.
2. Turn on the Kobo.
3. On the opening page of the Kobo, select "Manage Library" This will cause the computer to acknowledge the Kobo. In Windows Explorer, the Desktop now displays: My Computer \ KOBOeReader
4. On your computer, select the book to be loaded to the Kobo.
5. Drag and drop the book file into the main folder, KOBOeReader.
6. Eject the Kobo using the drop down menu option on your computer, (for Windows, Right Clicking the Kobo folder in My Computer).
7. Unplug the USB cable (this is a necessary step).
8. The device will automatically update itself and the new book will be included in the Kobo's "Books" library.


If you have another type of eReader which does not read either .epub or .mobi, use Calibre to convert either to the filesype you need.
